It is important to reduce the potential risks of a bomb threat or suspicious package. In this section we look at identifying risk, bomb threats and suspect packages.
Terrorists often give telephone warnings of bombs. This section looks at the four key rules when dealing with a call, what information to collect and what to be aware of with regards to the caller.
This section also covers good practice recommendations to deter and detect anyone from delivering a suspicious package, how to detect a suspicious package and what to do when a suspicious package is found.
There are three questions throughout this section to ensure that you have understood the content.
This section looks at the steps to follow when evacuating or remaining inside the building in the face of a credible bomb threat including personal emergency evacuation procedures (PEEPs) for employees who may have difficultly evacuating, such as those in wheelchairs, or with sight impairment.
In the face of a possible hoax steps are set out how to search the building including what to include in a search procedure.
On completion of this course you will know how to handle a bomb threat warning and know what to look for and what to do if you are suspicious about a package.
It’s very clear how important good employee awareness is. The people who work for an organisation are always the most likely to notice things that look wrong, or just don’t feel right.
