This short Communication Skills online training course will start you on your journey and help you take your first steps towards becoming a more effective communicator.

In this section you will discover the different kinds of communication including verbal, non-verbal, written, visual and listening and also the three sources where barriers to effective communication comes from such as personal barriers (which come from you), social barriers (which come from others) and environmental barriers (which come from anywhere else).
This section finishes with multiple choice questions to ensure you have understood the content.
The second section covers some simple strategies that you can use to overcome the barriers discussed in section 1 and improve your communication skills.
Active Listening
Active listening is a skill which helps you consciously pay more attention and show that you're paying attention. This online course will show you how to achieve good listening skills.
Non Verbal Signals
Understand about what non-verbal signals are and how you can use them effectively to your advantage.
Be Calm
Learn some useful tools such as the Superman Pose or the 7 - 11 breathing technique to improve your confidence and feel more calm.
One really useful tip is to reinterpret your feelings of nervousness as excitement and use that energy to help you.
Be Assertive
Being assertive increases confidence, both within you and within others.
Learn how to use more definite verbs such as, I will or I choose to and how to offer a reason or a solution if you need to offer criticism or highlight a problem.
This online course can be completed in as little as 10 minutes and provides the user with a printable certificate upon completion.
