This online Emotional Intelligence training course has been designed to give staff an understanding of what it means to be emotionally intelligent and why it is important in the workplace. You will also be given some useful techniques that will help you to develop and demonstrate emotional intelligence, which you can put to very good use each and every day.
Emotional intelligence has a powerful impact on our personal and professional lives.
As a concept, it was first introduced by researchers back in the 1990’s.
Since then, it’s become widely discussed, practised and taught in all aspects of life.
Emotional intelligence comes naturally to some, but it can also be developed with practice and it can often go hand-in-hand with developing and demonstrating general intelligence.
This course is split into two sections.
Emotional intelligence (also known as EI) is the ability to recognise, understand and appropriately respond to the emotions in ourselves and others.
It is important to have emotional intelligence as an increasing number of businesses test for emotional intelligence as a part of their recruitment processes. This is because having strong emotional intelligence allows us to manage the way that different emotions affect our behaviour and surroundings, which is essential for effective decision making, as well as forming and maintaining healthy relationships, which of course is all important in a workplace.
This section ends with a question to ensure you have understood the content.
According to researchers, there are at least five components which define how emotional intelligence is measured. These are self-awareness, self-control, empathy, social competence and motivation. This section takes each of the five components in turn and discusses how you can strengthen these components.
This section also finishes with a question to ensure you have understood the content.
The rewards of strengthening your emotional intelligence, for yourself and others, are wonderful and long lasting!
By strengthening the five components of emotional intelligence you can expect to see improvements to your decision making, problem solving, interpersonal skills, and your overall emotional health, which are crucial to creating ongoing success and meaningful relationships in both your personal and professional life.
