This Health & Safety Online Training for Managers course will help anyone whose duties include creating, implementing, overseeing, and managing health & safety practices, policies, and hazard controls at work.
The purpose of this training is to help you understand the importance of Health & Safety and provide you with practical, actionable steps to ensure that your organisation understands and fulfils its legal Health & Safety obligations.
You will learn about the eight steps to managing Health & Safety, how Health & Safety law is implemented and enforced, and you will see how to use the Plan, Do, Check, Act model to effectively manage Health & Safety at work.
This course is split into three sections.
In this section, the 8 steps are set out that should be followed to ensure your workplace is safe and healthy for everyone. These include to appoint a competent person, create a policy, carry out a Risk Assessment, provide information and training, provide the right facilities, manage first aid, accidents, and illness, organise insurance cover and to display the Health & Safety Poster.
Since the introduction of the Health and Safety at Work Act, serious and fatal accidents have reduced by over two-thirds. Breaking Health & Safety laws is a crime in the UK and employers and managers are responsible for making sure the arrangements in their Health & Safety Policy are implemented and kept up-to-date. It is an employer’s absolute duty to have a Health & Safety Policy and to share it with staff.
In this policy, an employer must ensure that all measures taken protect the health, safety, and welfare of the employee, so far as is reasonably practicable.
This section teaches the user how to show commitment to health and safety law in the UK and also aims to teach about the enforcement of the Health and Safety laws. The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) is responsible for enforcing Health & Safety laws and regulations in the UK . The course gives a rundown of how the HSE enforces the law and what you can expect if you are found to be in breach of the law.
Plan, Do, Check, Act is a model for carrying out health and safety changes at work which balances both the systems side of management and the behavioural side of the employees who have to live and work with the changes.
In this section, the course goes over each step of the model in detail so that you can understand it and implement it into your workplace with immediate effect.
On completion of this course you should have a good understanding of your responsibilities as an employer, manager, or supervisor and feel much more confident in creating, implementing, and overseeing a successful Health & Safety regime within your organisation.
The course concludes with a test and on successful completion a printable CPD accredited certificate will be available for download.
