We have a range of health and safety courses for schools, designed to educate your staff and volunteers to help keep your students safe.

Suitable for all members of staff at primary and secondary schools, and other educational settings, our courses are approved by the relevant bodies, affordable and informative.

Fire Awareness Training for Schools

If you work in an educational setting including nurseries, schools, colleges and universities, you are legally required to undertake Fire Awareness training.  This training course is designed specifically for educational institutes and provides scenarios that are relevant to educational settings.

This online Fire Awareness in Education training course provides you with the tools you need to protect yourself, your students and your colleagues from fire and its effects and it explains everything that you need to know about how to handle a fire at work.  By the time you have finished this training, you will be able to recognise and manage different types of fire, you will have gained a strong understanding of fire hazards, smoke and its effects and what procedures to follow in an emergency.

Safeguarding Children (Level 2)

This online Safeguarding Children training course will teach you everything you need to know to protect a child's physical safety and emotional wellbeing. You'll know what to do, how to do it, who to talk to, and why your actions are vital to their safety.

This online Safeguarding Children training course is designed for anybody who comes into frequent contact with children at work, including volunteers.

Covering both levels 1 & 2 and also covering Standard 11 of the Care Certificate, this course helps users to understand the different types of abuse, how to identify abuse, and how to properly report concerns. It will take you through the 4 Rs of child protection, which involves recognising risks to their safety and wellbeing, responding to those risks, and how to go about recording and reporting your concerns.

The course has also been updated in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE)’ and throughout this course you’ll find relevant information linked to this document included in the additional resources.

School Trips for Management

This School Trips for Management online training course looks at how you manage school trips - making sure they are carefully planned, appropriately risk assessed, and well conducted.

This is the first of two training programmes on School Trips.

It’s been written for anyone in a school who has responsibility for managing school trips or visits – including Headteachers, Governing Bodies, Educational Visits Coordinators and anyone in charge of organising a school trip.

The programme particularly looks at roles, responsibilities, legal requirements and risks.

If you are organising a school trip, or accompanying children on a school trip, you may also be interested in the second of our programmes on school trips - School Trips for Organisers and Support.

School Trips for Organisers and Support covers the planning and delivery of a school trip, from choosing a location right through to bringing the pupils home.

It’s been designed for anyone who is organising or running a school trip and is also very useful for anyone accompanying a group of pupils on a school trip, including teachers, and other school staff, and volunteer helpers, including parent and guardian helpers.

School Trips for Organisers and Support

This course takes a practical look at some of the things that must be considered when planning and delivering school trips both in the UK and abroad.  It's been created to guide you through the process and to support any procedures and guidelines already in place in your school.

This training course is suitable for anyone working in Education that organises school trips and for anyone who assists on the trip, also known as an Educational Visits Coordinator. If you are the person managing or have responsibility for the school trip you will also need to complete the School Trips for Management online training course which looks at the legal requirements, roles and responsibilities, and the risk assessments required when providing school trips.

Risk Assessment in the Workplace

Our Risk Assessment online training course is designed to help employers and staff whose responsibility it is to undertake risk assessments.  The course will give clear, concise training and advice to enable them to understand the risk assessment process and undertake their own risk assessments.  

The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, (as amended) requires employers to undertake risk assessments for work activities that have the potential to cause harm to employees and other people who may be affected by their actions.  The course includes understanding the concept of hazard and risk and covers the five steps to create a risk assessment.

Basic Life Support in Care

Basic Life Support is a set of techniques for assessing a medical emergency and providing lifesaving support until a trained medical professional arrives.

This knowledge is essential for every care worker.

Covering Standard 12 of the Care Certificate, this online Basic Life Support in Care training course educates the user on the basic administration of basic life support including adults, children and infants.

It is broken down into 3 basic elements, initial assessment (primary survey), airway maintenance, and CPR. The course aims to help the user understand what to do if an adult, child or infant is choking, what DRABC stands for and how it allows you to perform a primary survey, and the knowledge the user is required to know as part of Standard 12 of the Care Certificate.

Medication Awareness Training

There are many reasons why a child will need to take medication at school, usually for a short while whilst they recover from an illness.  However, some children have more specialist or long term needs such as asthma, diabetes, eczema, severe allergies or epilepsy.  

This online Medication Awareness Training for Schools is designed for the use of adults specifically working in Education who have agreed to take on the responsibility of administering medication.  This course will provide you with the basics of safely and legally administering medication to children in a school including who is responsible for what and how to handle, store, dispose of and administer medication.  It will also give you useful tips and things to remember when helping children with more complex needs.

Anaphylaxis & Allergy Training

This online training course has been designed to be used by anyone who cares for children, including those in schools, parents, guardians, youth workers and childminders.

Half of the children in the UK have one or more allergies and there is no cure.  Anaphylaxis is a severe allergic reaction and if it is not treated immediately and correctly it can be fatal.  Our training will provide you with a step-by-step emergency procedure to follow in response to an anaphylactic shock. In just 40 minutes you will learn about what Individual Healthcare Plans are, the different types of allergies and how they are caused, what anaphylaxis is, school policies and responsibilities and the impact that these allergies can have on a child.

Epilepsy Training

If you are caring for a child with epilepsy, whether you work with children in a school, nursery or college or whether you are a parent, family member, guardian or carer, this online training course is just for you.

Learners will gain a better understanding of the different types of epileptic seizures, what your responsibilities are when caring for children with epilepsy and what to do to help a child who is having a seizure.  The course aims to help the user understand what can trigger a seizure and the larger effects that epilepsy can have on a child's education and wellbeing.

Diabetes Training 

This online Diabetes training course has been created to raise awareness and is designed to help those who work in schools, parents, guardians, youth workers or childminders to care for children with diabetes.

It explains how to recognise signs of diabetes, as well as explaining how to monitor, treat and care for children who have diabetes.

This course will also explain how diabetes works and how you can keep a child with diabetes healthy and happy at school. In the UK there are around 35,000 children and young people living with both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Learners will touch upon the risks children face and your responsibilities, the different kinds of medication, and what should happen when a child goes on school trips.

Asthma Training

This course has been written for people who work with children, particularly those who work in nurseries, schools and colleges.  It’s also suitable for anyone who looks after a child with asthma, including parents, guardians, family members and carers; and it can be used by a young person with asthma.

The course will help you to recognise the triggers and symptoms of asthma and the course explains how to care for a child when they are having an asthma attack.

This course will provide an overview of the common types of inhalers and how to treat infants, juniors and teens. This course will look at what asthma is, the triggers and symptoms of asthma, the different kinds of medication, what to do when a child has an asthma attack and what your schools responsibilities are.
