This online Mental Health Awareness Training for Managers course is designed for the use of managers in the workplace to increase awareness of mental health issues and illnesses, provides tools that improve wellbeing, encourages you to talk about your mental health, and it explains how you can offer support to your team.
This course is split into five sections.
This first section covers the importance of mental health training and the common triggers for poor mental health to look out for, how to change the workplace culture so that staff feel able to ask for help and how to change negative thought patterns.
This section takes an in depth look into common mental health problems such as loneliness, stress, anxiety, depression and other common mental illnesses.
This section is your Wellbeing Toolkit that can help you look after your mental health on a daily basis.
We appreciate that everyone has their own ideas about how to approach their mental health and wellbeing, so this section has a variety of insights, mini exercises, recommendations and some food for thought so you can use what suits you.
The majority of forward-thinking directors and managers are now on board, because they understand that taking care of their team’s mental health is not only their moral responsibility, but it's also the key to a successful business. This is because an organisation that is both mentally and physically fit and healthy produces happy, hardworking and extremely productive employees. It is also of financial benefit because for every £1 that an organisation invests on improving mental health, there’s an average of a £4.20 return.
This section sets out how you, as a manager, can create a safe and supportive environment that encourages your team to talk openly about mental health and how you can look after your team’s physical and emotional needs. It includes Mental Health at Work Plan, effective people management, good working conditions, workplace adjustments, monitoring wellbeing regularly and taking early action.
This course can be a helpful guide, but it's not a substitute for professional medical advice.
If you’re really struggling, make an appointment with your doctor. You will also find resources available at the end of the course to highlight what kind of other external help is out there.
The aim of this course is to create a space where mental health can be treated for exactly what it is - an important and normal part of our everyday lives. On completion of this course, we hope that you feel more comfortable talking about mental health and asking for help if you need it and how to recognise patterns in your thinking and behaviour. As a manager, you will understand just how beneficial it is for your organisation to invest in the mental wellbeing of your team and you will be able to utilise the tools the course provides to put into working practice to establish a healthy working environment.
This course can be completed in just 50 minutes and provides the user with a printable certificate upon completion of the end-of-training test.
