This online Modern Slavery training will provide understanding on the various terms that ‘modern slavery’ covers and understand what slavery is.
There are more victims of slavery today than there ever has been throughout history. This training course has been created to raise awareness of the types of modern slavery, the key signs to look out for, and how to prevent it, tackle it and report it.
Learners will also find out what their organisation can do to help eliminate slavery in the UK. This training is suitable for all levels of staff and will help your organisation to show commitment to the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
This course is split into two sections.
This section has an in depth look into what modern slavery actually means which covers four categories: slavery, forced labour, human trafficking and servitude.
The common thread is that the victims’ mental wellbeing or physical safety (usually both) are exploited, threatened or abused, whilst their freedom is taken from them.
Throughout this section five case studies are shared to raise awareness of the most common types and to show you how to spot the signs.
The majority of cases fall into four broad categories: sexual exploitation, labour exploitation, domestic servitude and criminal exploitation.
In this second section the course looks at what you and your organisation can do to help with the fight against modern slavery to include, how to report any concerns or suspicions, compliance with the Modern Slavery Act, working practices and policies and your organisation's supply chain.
There are also two more case studies included from two industries that are high risk for modern slavery.
On completion of this course you will have a better understanding of just how real and prevalent modern slavery is and why it is so important that we put an end to it.
The course will arouse your curiosity about the products you buy and where they came from - about the contractors you employ, the hotels you stay in and the restaurants you eat in.
You will feel confident at identifying the red flags, reporting suspicious activity and encouraging your workplace to produce a Human Slavery and Trafficking Statement if they don’t already have one.
To ensure you have understood the content this course concludes with a test.
