This online Presentation Skills Training course helps you to understand what makes an engaging and memorable presentation and teaches practical and actionable tips for becoming an effective presenter.
Finding your own unique presentation style is the key to having the desired impact on your audience and making a real and lasting impression. There will be times in life when you need to present and share your ideas, whether it be in a work situation as part of your job role, for an interview for a new role or in your personal life pursuing hobbies or voluntary work. Presenting your ideas can happen in a number of ways such as to a team, to an individual, to a large audience or even on a pre-recorded video. One of the most import skills for communicating effectively during a presentation is being clear, concise and engaging and creating a compelling story is a great way to do this. It is all about connecting with your audience.
This course is split into two sections.
First and foremost a presentation is a form of communication for exchanging ideas or sharing information. Visuals such as slides are helpful to guide yourself and audience through the presentation but the presentation actually relies on what you are saying and doing. Before you even start preparing your presentation it is important to identify the purpose of your presentation. Is it to inform, instruct, inspire or induce? Each one of these will influence the style, content and structure in a different way.
To present effectively you need to understand your audience and present the message in a memorable way. Remember, an unengaged audience is an audience that isn’t learning. Try to use non-verbal cues like body language, hand gestures, eye contact, and voice projection to engage your audience.
This section covers four actions on how to be an effective presenter:-
